6. My First Scam – Welcome to the Darkside of Internet Money Making.

So I’ve got the email account and I’ve joined Yuwie ?

Now I need something to make me some money right away. I was searching Google for “How to make money” forums. And I bookmarked one post that got me curious. I read it through again and again, and looked on yuwie to discover that this no one else was doing. I did more research including emailing the people who were involved in this. My results were dubious, pretty much 50/50. Half my research was pointing this “scheme” smelling like a rotten scam.

The other half of my research was weakly supporting that this system was legit.

I came out with the result – Give it a try, see what happens.

How stupid was I ? (I should really be too embarrassed to write about this, but I guess that this is how scams like this continue, because the people who get scammed are to embarrassed to talk about it). Step Two
Send a $5.00 dollar donation from your PayPal account to THE FIRST
e-mail address on the list with a note saying “Please add me to your
list”.

Now send the other $5.00 donation and e-mail to the 5th person on list
saying “Thanks I’ve joined”.

Next, remove the 1st e-mail address and place your address at the
bottom. This
moves the 2nd to 1st, 3rd to 2nd, 4th to 3rd, and the 5th place into
4th.

DO NOT TRY TO PLACE YOURSELF IN THE FIRST PLACE. IT WILL ONLY REACH THE
PEOPLE YOU SEND IT TO, AND THEN YOUR NAME WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE
LIST!

move the other addresses up (5 becomes 4, 4 becomes 3, etc?.) and add
YOUR
email address (the one used on the paypal account) as number 5 on the
list.

Step Three
When your name is on the 1st slot, 8,000 to 15,000 people will send
you 5 dollars! DO NOT TRY TO PUT YOURSELF IN FIFTH PLACE WITHOUT
PAYING, AS PAYPAL WILL AUTOMATICALLY NOTICE THIS AND DELETE YOUR
ACCOUNT AND POSSIBLY PURSUE LEGAL ACTION , SINCE THIS IS A LEGITIMATE
PROGRAM, AND THEY ARE PART OF IT! Keep in mind… the most you spent is
$10 DOLLARS! (Remember… what goes around comes around).

posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and
drag

I should have gone with my instincts. Which were screaming out at me, “If it smells like Bull-Sh#t and it looks like Bull-Sh#t, then it most probably IS Bull-Sh#t.” But, oh no, I knew better, So I paid the money, and started posting it all over the place, yuwie, facebook, forums etc.

Now time to sit back and watch all these five dollar payments start rolling in to my Paypal account.

Nope, not at all.

Yes I did have a total of 3 payments in to my paypal, but I had a lot more nasty emails than Dollars.

Facebook warnings, a Violation Notice of Yahoo and some personalized emails of some guys of a forum, telling me that < You should fu#k off and die you fu#king dirty spammer ! Another angry guy in the US sent me a message that he had been offered $10,000 to hand me over to the police! (now who’s the one sending out lies ?)

I was going to bed at night thinking that if this is what trying to make money from the internet is all about, then forget it.

My warnings were not so much about the content of this “$5 letter”, but more about where I was posting it. I was a SPAMMER !

Ok, so if I’m a spammer then I should do some spamming to all those people who have filled my email account over the years with spam. So I sent out this “$5 letter” as an email to all the email addresses that I have received spam from. This proved to be a waste of time as 99% of my emails sent, bounce back as undelivered. Seems that you can’t reply to spammers?

I’m gonna just have to find another way ?
